Stables Cottage and Waterside Shepherd's Hut are nestled behind the stand of huge pine trees to the right of the photograph above - which looks over at least three Roman forts: Bessie's Hill, Castle O'er and Baillie Hill.  Two stone circles lie just the other side of the river to the left of the picture - easy walks and cycle paths are everywhere, along timber trails through each forest, stretching for miles in every direction.
